From our back, several people attacked us and started to take our travel bags, we had on the bike. They wanted to steal things. One of our colleagues was hit with a stone. He raised his left hand to defend his face and the hand was broken”, saied Rick Price, one of the tourists.

"My wife and I were riding alond the road, about 70 kilometers north of Cluj-Napoca. We came along a straight stretch and there's some children on a side of the road and when we got 50 feet from them, they pulled up a rope with iron rings in it, to about 3 feet level. They stopped us, and then attacked our bags to get the things out of the bags. I droped my bike, went over. My wife got away on the road, but I was surrounded by about ten of them. They had rocks and had all sorts of things and I was having troubles to get on my bike. A mother with a baby grabbed a shovel and attacked me. Some of the boys came along with pieces of wood. A boy of 10 or 11 years threw a brick at me and i raised my arm to stop the brick and he broke my hand", said Tony Knott.
